Thursday 18th of July 2024, will go down as a very black day at the University of Ilorin, following an accident that occurred during closing hours at the main campus of the institution, A2satsblog Media reports.

A twitter user stated that the students were returning from school following the conclusion of their exams for that day when the incident struck in the afternoon.

The accident occurred very close to the school gate, A2B Media gathered.

According to a video circulating online, a white KOROPE (mini-bus) presumed to be loaded with at least 8 to 10 students, could be seen with its four wheels facing up while a female student could be seen lying (lifeless) on the floor.

"Ah, this Girl is in my faculty", a lady recording the video cried out in tears.

Another female student was seen sitting on the floor without her right hand.

In another scene, an unidentified man was being assisted to a sitting position after loosing his balance.

"The accident led to glasses breaking into the face of the driver and he risk being blind. Also one of the students seem to have lost her hand" One of the witnesses who were at the scene revealed.

Students swung into action immediately, as many could be seen assisting and trying their possible best to rescue the students.

Many have trooped to twitter to raise alarm over this issue and asking parents or guardians to reach out to their wards to confirm their safety.

As of the time of gathering this report, the main cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained but it could be seen from the video in circulation that there was only one KOROPE involved.

It has been alleged that some of the students involved in the accident could have lost their lives in the incident. Though this information is yet to be confirmed.
